Success Can Be Small Too

Not everyone climbs Mount Everest.

Not everyone walks on the moon.

Not everyone wins an Oscar.

Not everyone builds a Taj Mahal.

You hold a dictionary

Above your head with

Definitions of “success”,

And if you let it

The weight will

Pin you down,

But

If instead, you lower it

And stand upon the volume

Your vantage point

Is higher, and as

You look down at the dictionary,

You see how small those successes are

In a world of mountains,

Moons, and palaces.

You don’t have to

Go by the book, you know.

You may write on a napkin,

“I got up today.”

And that, my friend, is a success.
