Face This Now

I know you don’t want to.

I know it’s actually the last thing

You want to do right now.

But it’s like your dirty dishes.

Sure it’s inconvenient,

You’re tired, you think

“Maybe tomorrow”,

But if you wash them now

They are easier to clean,

And the work is done.

If you wait,

The food dries into crusty gunk,

And once one dish sits

More flock to join,

And the tower grows taller,

Taunts louder.

Don’t put it off.

Like the dishes, face this now

So it will become easier

Next time.
